Do you want to build the future of the cardiac ICU in pursuit of our mission to “Recover Hearts and Save Lives”? If yes, we are definitely looking for you!

At Abiomed, we’re building the next generation of advanced mechanical circulatory support – devices that are smarter and more connected with the growing healthcare data ecosystem. We believe that best-in-class devices are defined by the user experiences and interfaces that guide patient care. We believe that our UI/UX designers should be grounded by the unmet clinical needs of these patients and have the creative strength to find, build, and deliver solutions that address those needs.

Our team is focused on expanding the portfolio of advanced patient management tools that make our heart pumps a world-leading innovative device. We need UI/UX designers who can translate these tools to our users with focus, passion, and high standards. This makes our UI/UX designer a critical hire to achieve our mission – someone who is not afraid to own critical goals and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. If you’re up for this mission and willing to do what it takes to meet those goals, this is the place for you.

  • Integrate user feedback, user research, and product metrics into all designs to create clear, high-impact experiences that are welcoming and intuitive
  • Develop strategies for new product submissions in accordance with FDA and other regulatory guidance in collaboration with regulatory team partners
  • Contribute to UX vision and strategy, build strong relationships generating buy-in and operationalizing strategy across larger teams and timelines
  • Maintain knowledge on current design trends and standards and how they apply to our products and our patients
  • Experience the products and user groups first-hand by undertaking shadowing visits in clinics and practices, and through training on the devices

Qualificiations:

  • Track record of delivering UI/UX solutions for software or hardware products in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • 5 or more years of progressively complex UI/UX design projects for a medical device, healthcare technology, or related product field
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Factors, UI/UX Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Human Computer Interaction)
  • Mechanical aptitude and an affinity for consistency, color use, and typography
  • Understand and distill highly complex technical solutions into clean, focused, and understandable solutions
  • Expertise in prototyping-to-test and demonstrating interactions, flows and component functionality
  • Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders where you clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
  • Able to provide deliverables under tight deadlines and with input from many senior-level stakeholders
  • Follows UI/UX methodology leveraging tools like user journey maps, low fidelity prototyping, wireframe design, wireflows, usability studies, and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Strong understanding of accessibility requirements and design principles to accommodate such requirements
