We are looking for an exceptional Sr. Software Engineer with experience in Windows & embedded application programming to join our incredible team.  This new team member will be responsible for designing, simulating, and implementing performance-enhancing software used in ABIOMED’s family of products. The ideal candidate will be motivated and an energetic self-starter - someone with a ‘make it happen’ attitude and who can thrive in a fast-paced, cutting edge environment.  We have important work to do for patients - join us!


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conversion of user needs and design inputs into software specifications
  • Design, develop, and test software per medical device software development life cycle (IEC-62304)
  • Participate in software risk analysis and mitigation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including clinicians, product managers, in further refinement and development of software tools & algorithms
  • Prepare and maintain programs and documentation for analytic models and associated tools
  • Conduct defined quantitative and qualitative research independently and communicates research results to the stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience; (Ph.D. preferred)
  • 5-8 years of experience in embedded application programming in C / C++.
  • Experience in the graphical user interface (GUI) development
  • Demonstrated understanding of time-domain and frequency-domain biomedical signal processing algorithms development
  • Knowledge of modeling and analyzing large data sets using Python/R/MATLAB or equivalent tools
  • Willing to travel 5% of the time to meet with customers to assess product performance in the field and gather user needs


Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Familiarity with standard data algorithms, QNX operating system, and graphical user interfaces like QT would be a big PLUS
  • Experience in the medical device industry strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of cardiovascular physiology would be a big PLUS
