The Senior Maintenance Technician II at Abiomed will perform routine and preventive building and property maintenance to ensure the quality, appearance and safety of the facility and product. In addition, he or she will play a key, lead role in managing HVAC responsibilities across the building and in our cleanroom. This is a critical role within a growing team and property, and a wonderful opportunity for someone who takes extreme pride in their work!

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform general maintenance and repair duties, including light carpentry, basic electrical and plumbing, HVAC, grounds maintenance and arranging furniture and partitions
  • Provide routine preventative maintenance to maintain and improve the quality and appearance of the work environment
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and repair standard equipment as judgment or necessity dictates
  • Be cognizant of all chemical spills and follow-up of disposal/cleanup
  • Ensure all safety requirements of company are implemented in accordance with rules and regulations of Safety Officer
  • Breakdown and restructure of office workstations as needed 
  • Assist employees with internal moves
  • Assist Facilities Manager in managing the workload of other facilities staff and provide direction to outside contractors for facilities renovation projects as needed
  • NOTE: This position will require rotating 24/7 on-call responsibility to provide emergency response to the facility, to include one weekend a month and holidays as applicable

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must be able to withstand heights of up to 65 feet and must be able to lift and move a minimum of 35 pounds
  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum of 5 years HVAC experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in facility maintenance management
  • Strong familiarity of building codes and regulations
  • Familiarity with building trade groups and work rules
  • Good working knowledge of HVAC systems and clean room control
  • Strong organizational skills in managing project schedules
  • Excellent communication & customer service skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to utilize basic math skills
  • Ability to exercise judgment to determine appropriate actions

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cleanroom experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Associates, Bachelors, or Advanced Degree in a technical discipline
