Abiomed is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Market Intelligence Manager individual with strong analytical skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and advance the market and clinical analytics maturity across the enterprise. You’ll help us create and deliver insights that advance our “patients first” culture and competitive position in the market. The team serves as the company’s analytic center of excellence, translating data into high-value, actionable insights for senior leadership and business partners.

 

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience analyzing large-scale data sets and has demonstrated examples of translating data analyses into insights that drive transformational business outcomes. You’ll collaborate with a team of dedicated analysts and partner with business stakeholders to evaluate market and clinical questions, design and implement analytical solutions and deliver actionable insights relating to clinical outcomes, market transformations, customer acquisition and retention, marketing efficacy and other related topics.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create the external data strategy with input from stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and team members to ensure alignment with the department’s goals as well as timely project completions, accurate analysis and presentation, and actionable outcomes to guide the Abiomed’s company strategy, Marketing department, and Field teams.
  • Leverage data to drive the Marketing department’s strategic and tactical strategies. Identify overall strategic trends to share with cross-functional business stakeholders and guide overall marketing strategy and initiatives. Redirect strategic analysis at a tactical level to provide the Field Team data-driven guidance to promote and grow Impella usage. Complete independent tactical analysis to identify trends at the lowest level for a better understanding of performance trends. Use these findings to provide additional data-driven support to the Field Team.
  • Lead global market intelligence projects and external data acquisition efforts. Provide guidance for data query design and specifications, as well as data processing and analysis. Identify and establish new approaches to process and analyze data.
  • Mentor and teach teammates, discover training needs on the team, provide coaching, and drive solutions for both intelligence tradecraft (providing actionable findings, thorough analysis, data presentation, etc.) and external data. Maintain all data informational guides and process documentation to improve team-wide data familiarity.
  • Identify automation processes to decrease data process time and make the data more approachable for other teammates. Automate routine reporting and integration of external data with IQ data to ensure all stakeholders have the most reliable and up to date information.
  • Maintain and build expertise on global external data sources. Keep up to date with all changes, improvements, new opportunities and communicate with stakeholders. Manage all existing vendor contracts and acquisition of new data.
    • Work with the German and Japan marketing teams to identify and fulfill their data needs; establish a global facet of our market intelligence team.
  • Organize and lead the Marketing Department’s Competitive Intelligence program. Provide project guidance for teammates and partners to accomplish strategic and tactical goals. Establish routine reporting and information sharing of actionable intelligence with key stakeholders and customers.
  • Leverage both Competitive Intelligence findings and external data analysis to anticipate changes and future areas of interest in the cardiology market. When appropriate, synchronize program efforts, and combine with internal Impella data, for more robust and forward-looking analysis to guide Abiomed’s future marketing strategies and identify tactical and strategic opportunities.
  • Establish standardized reporting expectations across the team to ensure all projects produce actionable intelligence with consistent and clear language. Train the team on basic intelligence tradecraft and critical thinking skills to promote a more adaptive and proactive team that can easily anticipate future stakeholder needs or changes in the industry.
  • Promote cross-functional partnerships on external data and Competitive Intelligence projects. Meet with stakeholders in other divisions to increase awareness of the team and help meet other departments’ data needs. Actively continue to build the team’s reputation and exposure to other departments and stakeholders within Abiomed.

 

Requirements

  • BS in an analytic discipline (intelligence, statistics, data analytics, data science, mathematics, bio statistics, medical research, etc), MS in analytical or quantitative field preferred
  • 8+ years of work experience in competitive intelligence, market analysis, open source research and analysis, data analytics or related field
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, Einstein Analytics, MSPower BI, ESRI ArcGIS, Palantir, i2 Analyst Notebook, JMP, MiniTab)
  • Experience with advanced analytic techniques and methodologies (e.g., predictive modeling, statistical analysis, customer segmentation, multi-variate analysis, analysis of competing hypothesis, social network/link analysis, market analysis, data validation, threat and risk analysis, multi-source confidence and corroboration)
  • Quick learner, critical thinking mindset, highly adaptable, able to manage competing priorities, excellent presentation skills
  • Prior experience with data querying, structure, and cleaning preferred
  • Prior experience with Salesforce.com preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel, experience with SQL, R, Python (or statistical modeling) and/or SAS/SPSS preferred
  • Experience with and/or interest in the medical and biotech industry a plus

Experience with grant funding, academic publication processes, and medical publications a plus
