Information Security Engineer

 

As the Information Security Engineer, you will work to help protect corporate systems and data assets from internal and external threats (on-premise & in the cloud). The mission is protecting and securing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of corporate digital assets/systems from malicious intents or unauthorized use. To meet objectives, you will focus on managing daily security operations and assist in the development of architecture designs, changes, and configuration management in support of information technology security initiatives.  All duties to be performed in a manner that promotes a team concept and is consistent with the culture and mission of the Abiomed. A blend of technical, security, and analytic skills are needed for the position. You will work with both IT colleagues and business users leveraging a variety of information security tools, systems, and services internal and external to the organization to complete your work. Hands-on experience with day-to-day various security tools and controls, e.g., security frameworks and standards, access control systems, endpoint protection, anti-virus/malware, encryption, patching, firewall and security log management and monitoring tools is required.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure implementation of best practices configuration and administration of information security controls and tools, e.g. access controls, endpoint protection, anti-virus/malware, data loss prevention, e-mail security, patching, vulnerability, perimeter firewalls and security log management and monitoring tools, used in governance, risk management, and compliance of protected data
  • Collaborate on information security related incidents and resolution with technical staff and provide security expertise/knowledge to cross functional information management teams.
  • Conducts audits of the security levels, security practices and provides updated status reports.
  • Participates in security incident response team, including performing forensics analysis, documentation, interviews and investigations.
  • Responsible for virus/malware removal and identify and implement preventative controls and measures to mitigate future vulnerabilities.
  • Mitigate security event alerts and vulnerabilities through security incident event management (SIEM) tools or other external sources.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation used for information security operations procedures, which outline decision support (e.g., security control administration, best practices, events of interest and incident handling, and escalation).
  • Participate in information security awareness and training initiatives to educate workforce about information risks.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and other third parties to improve information security within the organization.
  • Identifies attacks to the Abiomed network and systems and escalates security issues to facilitate prompt remediation.
  • Identifies, tracks, and monitors information security threats to support service continuity and security management.
  • Keep current with security threats, new privacy and security legislation, and security technologies.
  • Adhere to proper process and change management requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Your qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Security or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Information Security.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity and trust.
  • Strong technical skills with hands on experience in application and operating system hardening, end point protection, anti-virus/malware systems, vulnerability assessments, security audits, intrusion detection systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge in securing virtual environments and cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience with information security related issues involving identity and access management, intrusion detection, forensics, incident management, risk management and auditing.
  • Participates in continued learning and possess a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization.
  • Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking dynamic environment, working independently and prioritizing work.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written skills: ability to present clearly and concisely both through verbal communication to management, peers, and end users.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation, including a passion to exceed support expectations and patience when working with non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem identification, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Exposure to operating in a regulated environment (Sarbanes Oxley, FDA, HIPAA, COBIT, ITIL).

 

Qualities that will make you stand out:

  • Industry relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, GIAC certifications (GCED/GCCC/GDAT/GDSA)
  • Experience with NIST Cybersecurity or related Frameworks
  • Cloud certifications
