The Director of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) will serve as the principal technical and strategic lead to build out Abiomed’s HEOR department. They will be responsible for the development and execution of high quality HEOR evidence and value communication strategies to support optimal funding, payment and access aligned with the overarching objectives of Abiomed.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess, synthesize, interpret, and communicate relevant scientific information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-collaborate across multiple functions on the development on HEOR programs that support broad access and value.
  • Deliver best-practice project management oversight for all research and study-related activities.
  • Develop and utilize different health economics models (i.e. budget impact models, cost-effectiveness models) to assess and communicate the public health impact and economic value of Abiomed’s products.
  • Execute and manage research projects with external collaborators and vendors to ensure timely completion and quality of deliverables as well as budget and legal compliance.
  • Generate peer-reviewed publications to communicate study findings in scientific channels in alignment with the product publication strategy and the overall Clinical Evidence Generation Strategy.
  • Influence HEOR policies and methodological advances inside and outside the company by leading key cross-divisional task forces to help improve processes and standards in HEOR research programs.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Services Research, Economics, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or a related discipline. Doctorate or MD preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive excellence with HEOR, with a successful track record of building and executing high-value-add research agendas.
  • Extensive experience with outcomes-based strategies and tactics to meet scientific and commercial objectives and in conducting research studies that apply health economics, patient-reported outcomes, retrospective and prospective data analyses and health services research.
  • Demonstrated past experience using real-world evidence and comparative effectiveness for health policy decision-making and a high degree of digital fluency are preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
